O Centro de Estudos Fotográficos creado na cidade de Vigo en xaneiro de 1985 proponse como obxectivos :
-Recuperar, estudar e difundir a fotografía histórica galega.
-Facer a Galiza partícipe do debate da fotografía contemporánea universal, dando a coñecer as diferentes propostas anovadoras que se están a dar noutros países, intentando converter a Vigo nun lugar de referencia na produción fotográfica internacional, e non só nun lugar de recepción.
-Dinamizar a fotografía contemporánea galega, potenciando dunha forma especial o traballo de novos creadores.

The CEF is born in Vigo in January of 1985 after the I Fotobienal, being its aims the following:
-To make Galiza a part in the debate about contemporary universal photography, showing the different photographic trends of the rest of the world.
-To recover, study and spread the historic Galician photography
-To liven up contemporary Galician photography.
-To make Vigo a reference point in the international photographic production, and not only a reception place.
